Report: The Sharks Just Making Up The Numbers

As the Rugby League universe begins to gear up for what is expected to be an iconic finals season, one team is not like the others, The Advocate can report.

In a field stacked with serious contenders, the Sharks have been flagged as the odd one out in the race that could go to anyone, except probably Cronulla.

After spending all season enjoying an incredibly soft draw, plus boasting losses to basketcase clubs like the Tigers and the Dragons, the Sharks have somehow managed to stumble their way into the finals.

Speaking to local NRL columnist and the host of Triple M Betoota’s premier breakfast radio program “Sin Bin Sundays’, Paul Webster says the Sharks will be enjoying an early Mad Monday.

“It’ll be an unreal finals season this one, the narratives just write themselves.”

“You’ve got the Minor Premiership winning Raiders coming in hot, hoping to send Joshua Papali’i out on a high and help Ricky Stuart prove he’s not a one-time premiership coach.”

“Then there’s the Panthers looking to land their fifth straight title, after spending the start of the season at the bottom of the ladder.”

“As usual, everyone hates the Storm, but they’ll grapple their way to the prelims and enjoy a few soft calls from the NRL who are hoping to boost up their marketability in Melbourne.”

“The Broncos and Roosters have all the hot flash toys in the League, but they both struggle to play for the full 80. And everyone has endearment for the Warriors for their fan signs and the excuse to say “Up The Wahs!”

“Then lastly there’s the Sharks, who’ve got nothing going for them since Gallen turned the porch lights off.”

“I heard NRL HQ were secretly angling for the Dolphins to take their spot, at least we’d see some points!”

The Sharks have of coursed pinned these comments up in the dressing room.

Enjoy your finals football.
