A local Betoota Ponds man has today made motoring history, after an incredible feat on the Betoota Development Link Road.
Aaron Jackson (32) did so a short time ago by making to his destination without tailgating a single other motorist in his 2023 Ford Raptor.
And to make the effort even more impressive, he also managed to avoid erratically and aggressively overtaking a single other motorist.
It’s believed to be the first example of a Raptor driver using the road respectfully in the nation’s history.
Traditionally drivers of the vehicle are smaller men or blokes overcompensating for something by covering their body in tattoos, and tend to manoeuvre rather dangerously and aggressively on the road.
Speaking to The Advocate a short time ago from the Betoota Plains Tavern, Jackson said the feat hasn’t quite sunk in yet.
“Yeah pretty incredible,” he said.
“It felt weird. Really really weird.”
“But I was on the clock for work and was actually trying to kill time so I didn’t have to go home before the pub.”
“So I just sat in the left lane and took it really slow.”
“Even just sat behind an old lady in Mazda for like 5 minutes,” he laughed.
When pressed on whether the new behaviour would become the norm, he laughed even harder.
“I didn’t say it felt good.”
More to come.
