Queensland Government Urged To Bring Back The Beattie Burger Logo

Heated discussion about the new Queensland government logo has prompted many to call for the an old logo to make a comeback, citing that it’s the only design that could unite Queenslanders during these trying times.

Qld premier David Cristafulli has copped some heat for changing the logo from maroon to blue, which is either to fit with the liberal party’s colour scheme or his love of police officers.

Though this isn’t the first time the Queensland government has changed its logo design, it is the first time the logo has been 100% blue.

This has not only insulted Queensland patriots who ‘bleed maroon’ but led to mass confusion, as blue is the colour reserved for the enemy state of New South Wales.

Cristafulli is now being urged to not only get rid of the logo, but to consider going back to the logo of the Peter Beattie administration of the early 2000s, affectionately nicknamed the ‘beattie burger’, due to public servants believing it resembled a burger and chips.

As the nation struggles with a cost of living crisis and onslaught of horrific global news and culture wars dominating the algorithms, the  once divisive logo is now being viewed with nostalgic lens, a symbol of simpler times.

“I miss it, it has this…abstract art element to it where everybody has their own interpretation of what it looks like”, says Strathpine woman, Kelsey Fray, who remembered seeing it all over public libraries as a kid, “to me, it looks sperm travelling to an egg. To others, urine coming out of a shower head.”

“It was silly and whimsical and full of joy.”

“We didn’t appreciate it at the time, but the all time greats never are, are they?”

More to come.
