The Prime Minister has said he wished there was more he could do to contain the deadly coronavirus but as he’s a public servant – he’s already decided to leave important work he could be doing now until Monday.

“It’s just what we do here,” he said.

“It’s how things are done. We’ll pick this up again on Monday, guys. Thanks!”

“Go you Sharkies!”

The news comes as the Chief Medical Officer of Australia suggested that all public gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled and banned for the foreseeable future.

Nearly all in the community wanted to see a ban take place immediately but Scott Morrison ruled that out.

“It’s 3:30pm on a Friday afternoon, what do you want me to do about it?” asked the PM.

“Look, we’ll all enjoy the weekend and come back on Monday and really have a go at it.”

Locally, a number of Betoota residents have expressed outrage at the decision, while others said they were, “shocked but not surprised”.

More to come.
