The new trend of Western leaders accepting expensive gifts from the Arab states appears to have caught they eye of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

While many diplomats and political commentators would argue that ‘gifts’ should be limited to offerings of cultural significance, it seems that Albo wants help procuring his dream late 1970s muscle car.

This comes as both sides of the US Congress grow deeply concerned over President Donald Trump’s plan to accept a $400 million jet from the royal family of Qatar to be converted into Air Force One.

Even Trump’s own Republican Senators are now begging for the plane to be completely scrubbed for recording devices and technological compromises before any Americans step foot in it.

It is believed that a key factor in Trump’s decision to accept this gift is his “frustration” with the American aviation manufacturer Boeing – who have taken far too long to build him a new presidential plane.

And with the US President now setting a new precedent, it seems that other world leaders are lining up for a gift of their own.

While Prime Minister Albanese has not been given any reason to think that Qatari Royal Family would be in anyway interested in providing him with such a gift, he has still gone ahead and put together a wish lift.

“You know what” says Albanese, while speaking to a room full of foreign journalists during this week’s diplomat visit to Indonesia.

“I’ve always wanted to own a 1978 Holden Kingswood. Obviously the stock standard would be good enough – but I’ve seen a few blokes put a twin-turbo in em. Fuck, what I would give for a car like that”

“It was my dream car growing up. I mean, either that or the old Valiant Charger. We used to call that one ‘The Marrickville Mercedes’ – you shoulda seen those fuckers roaring down Parramatta Road back in the day”

However, Albanese says as the Australian leader – it’s probably better optics to be running an All-Australian muscle car.

“Hard to find one them nowadays… So keep your eyes peeled for me would ya”

“I would be more than willing to allow Qatar Airlines to begin regular flights to Australia if someone can get me a full-weight, big-boy HZ Kingswood street car running mid-eights”

“Fuck that would be so sick”
