Oscar Piastri Drives Too Fast Around A Corner

The zippiest young driver to come out of Australia in decades has this weekend had a race to forget.

Heading to Azerbaijan at the top of the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship, Oscar Piastri unfortunately failed to add to his points tally.

Not only did he fail to pull himself clear of chasing rival and teammate Lando Norris, but he also failed to finish the race in Azerbaijan’s capital of Baku.

After a horror run in qualifying, young Piastri had a false start to kick off the main event.

And then, he crashed out of the race on the first lap.

The cause of the crash has been identified as Oscar driving around a corner too fast, and then hitting the wall.

Thankfully, his rival Lando only finished 7th, picking up a measly 6 points for his efforts – after the universally loved Max Verstappen won the race.

That win means Max is now 69 points behind Oscar, with 7 races to go.

Speaking exclusively to The Betoota Advocate about one unfortunate weekend in Azerbaijan, Piastri said he’s not too worried about the rest of the season.

“Yeah I just took the corner too hard,” said Piastri.

“Won’t happen again.”

“It’s not like my controller ran out of battery or I’ve got a laggy connection, so it should be all sweet.”

When pressed on how he planned to not drive around corners too fast in future, Piastri said he plans to just hit the brakes a little bit quicker.

“Honestly, it’s no stress.”

“I just have to worry about my team giving the Golden Boy (Lando) special treatment.”

“That’s my main concern.”
