In great news for Rugba Leeg fans, Channel 9 are set to level up their coverage next weekend with a groundbreaking innovation in sports broadcasting.
The Advocate understands that producers at the Nine network have been scrambling all week, as they put the finishing touches on “Bellamy Cam”, a 4K high-definition camera that gives viewers front row seats to Craig Bellamy’s performance in the coaches box.
Dubbed “Project Nuclear”, it’s believed fans with a smart TV will be able to spend the entire grand final watching every bead of sweat, wobbling lip and cursed word that comes out of Bellamy’s mouth.
Speaking to the head of innovation at Nine’s Wide World Of Sports, “Bellamy Cam” will be must watched television.
“We know other broadcasters like cutting to Bellamy every time he loses it at a lost ball or pretty justified six-again call, so we thought it’d be funnier if fans can just zoom in on him the whole game.”
The new tech is expected to help the NRL break viewership records this weekend, particularly given it’s understood a deal has been brokered between referee Ashley Klein and Channel 9 to make sure the game is as controversial as possible.
Speaking to a secret source at NRL headquarters, next weekend’s grand final will be full of all the classic gags NRL scriptwriters give to officials to make for epic television.
“It’ll be another infamous grandy this one, we’ll be drafting the narrative all week,” the source told our reporter via the Telegram app.
“We’ve included heaps of contentious calls, some very soft high tackles, and the Storm will get away with at least three armbars on the opposition forwards whilst slowing down the ruck.”
“And everything is geared towards Melbourne getting as close as possible, or even win it, we need that to happen cos it’ll lift our viewer numbers in Victoria.”
“So at the end of the day Bellamy might actually crack a smile, and you can see it all live and free on ‘Bellamy Cam’.
