Margaret River Breaks Out The Shiraz For Brekky And Cheers On Their Local Boy For Gold

EFFIE BATEMAN | Lifestyle | Contact

The picturesque town of Margaret River, renowned for being the number one spot to get shitfaced on a winery tour, is buzzing with excitement as local Jack Robinson competes for gold in the Olympic surfing competition.

Residents have united in support, raising glasses of the region’s celebrated Shiraz as they cheer on their favorite surfer.

Robinson made to the finals after beating fellow Aussie surfer Ethan Ewing in the quarter finals last week, and then upsetting Brazil’s Gabriel Medina in the stars’ semifinal showdown in Tahiti.

Guaranteed a medal either way, Jack Robinson will be competing against French surfer/ Tahitian local Kauli Vaast for the gold medal at 10:30 this morning.

Locals have agreed they’ll be getting on the piss no matter the result.

More to come.
