Man Returns Home From Mental Health Walk Feeling Worse Because He Lives In Orange

A local man currently on secondment at Cadia mine has taken himself for a walk this morning around Orange in an effort to make himself feel a bit brighter.

However, because he lives in Orange, he returned home with a renewed desired to get the hell out of there.

Darcy Buckley, a drill rig operator from Betoota Heights, feels he was tricked by his employer and shown misleading images the Orange township before agreeing to work with a subsidiary at the nearby Cadia mine for the next six months.

“They showed me pictures of Mudgee,” the 33-year-old claimed in a telephone call with The Advocate earlier today.

“And some of Dubbo. I was impressed they were building a 20-story building there. Turns out, it wasn’ event Orange. This is the windiest place I’ve ever been and cliquier than the Darling Downs, which is saying something. But everything looks so windswept. Humans evolved to hate wind. No human is comfortable in wind, which is why everyone in Orange is in a bad mood all the time,”

“There’s only one thing I like about Orange and that’s the Parkview Hotel. You’d seldom find a better pub anywhere in Australia. It has everything. A front bar for your horse racing, a bistro for your eating, a garden for your family-orientated dining and it goes off at night.”

Buckley admitted not having his own vehicle and living in an apartment that’s 45 minutes on foot from the nearest supermarket might be influencing his opinion but he remains steadfast in his assessment.

“They said it was the Toowoomba of New South Wales,” he continued.

“When it actually more like Stanthorpe.”

More to come.
