A recent survey in Bosnia has revealed that the bulk of their tourism industry is still being held up by Australian’s who watched Hamish and Andy jump off that big bridge in Mostar.
Bosnia, a country which many Western Europeans have shied away from because they still only think of ethnic cleansing and corruption when picturing the balkan nation, has long relied on Aussies and Kiwis who are attracted by the cheap grog and beautiful scenery.
“Ever since Hamish and Andy visited this town we have seen a constant flow of Australians wanting to jump off our bridge” said Amir Hadžić (62), a tour guide from the southern Bosnian town of Mostar.
Tourism Bosnia have thanked the Australian comedy duo who featured the bridge jump in their 2012 Hamish & Andy’s Euro Gap Year.
“I always wondered why the only tourists that had the balls to jump off our 26 metre tall bridge into a narrow icy river were Australian’s, but now it makes sense” explained Ivan Marić (40), a local Mostar man and member of the Mostar diving club.
Many Australian’s have chalked up their decision to go through with the dangerous stunt down to: “well if Hamish Blake could do it, I definitely can”.
The mayor of Mostar has confirmed that their Key To The City honours are ready for Hamish and Andy to pick up when they’re ever in Bosnia again.
A serious conversation about honorary citizenship is also currently being had within the chambers of Bosnian parliament.
