A local man has made the reckless decision to watch Requiem For A Dream on a gloomy Sunday night, setting off a domino series of events that have emotionally rocked his entire week.

28 year old George Thomas, who spent most of his Sunday nursing a hangover, thought he’d end his Sunday night with a nostalgic movie he hadn’t seen since he was a teenager.

“Yeah, I didn’t want to commit to a new movie so I thought I’d chuck it on, hadn’t seen it for years and I’m usually a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal” said George.

What transcribed over the following 102 minutes put George on a one way path to a Sunday night of existential dread.

“Jesus christ, I forgot how dark that last 30 minutes of the movie is”

George, who’s main media diet now consists of tiktok videos, admits he hadn’t watched a dark full length film in a while.

“I don’t know how I used to be able to just sit through movies like that”

The dark film was successful in turning the volume up to 11 on George’s Sunday Scaries.

While the movie did line George up for a long night of anxious sleep and a monday morning of pure nihilism, it was a useful reminder to him.

“Always good to get the annual reminder that shooting up black tar heroin isn’t worth the stress, I guess”
