Local Comms Grad Forced To Choose Between Soul Crushing Corporate Job Or Low Paying Agency With Ping Pong Table

A recent communications graduate has been left paralysed by indecision this week after weighing up whether to take a soul crushing corporate job with a good starting salary, or a poorly paid agency role where staff are allowed to play ping pong on their lunch break and get trashed on Friday beers.

Looking over the competing offers, 24 year old Sophie Desport says she can’t decide whether to tough it out in the bland job for a year or a job she’ll actually enjoy.

“On one hand, the corporate job offers stability, career progression, and a good starting salary, but the work culture looks pretty dull, and they’ve made it clear they’ll be expecting after hours work”, says Sophie, “whereas the agency looks a more laidback and fun, but the salary reflects that.”

Sophie admits she’s not sure if the higher pay packet is even worth it, given the high stress and sacrifice to her social life likely won’t result in her affording a house anytime soon.

“Honestly, between the cost of living crisis and the fact I picked a field that AI’s about to wipe out, my ambition’s kind of gone. I think I just want to enjoy myself for a bit, you know?”

“My retirement plan is to just die, so I don’t it all matters anyway.”

More to come.
