The Australian political landscape has today come together in a rare and touching display of unity.
The once in a decade type of event has occurred after a bit of off the cuff riffing from the President of the United States.
Making headlines around Australia, and barely registering the tiniest blip in America, the quip from Donald Trump came after an extremely inflammatory question from a washed up Sky News journalist seemingly trying to destroy the bilateral relationship for no real reason other than to get a soundbite.
Responding to the question about the former Australian Prime Minister and current Ambassador’s tweets from like 5 years ago, the President of the United States let a few sledges fly.
Saying that he doesn’t like him, Rudd then chirped back in what was a somewhat uncomfortable exchange which has been reported as a complete ‘humiliation.’
While the humiliation element has a fair bit of mayo on it, it hasn’t stopped all of the major and minor political parties coming together to enjoy the global slap down of the former Prime Minister.
“Wow, how good was that,” laughed Barnaby Joyce, one particular figure caught in the middle of two parties right now.
“I think we can all agree, whichever political party you are affiliated with, that that was pretty funny shit.”
Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson echoed the sentiments.
“Very humorous to watch that,” said the big fella from Tassie.
“I know Labor won’t give you comment on this one, but internally pretty much everyone has been revelling in it too.”
“Just a nice news story in these trying times. Like the Louvre heist you know.”
