The Israeli rugby community have joined other left wing Israelis on the streets of Tel Aviv purely in the hope to avoid being boycotted by the historically  boycott-friendly New Zealand All Blacks.

While the left-wing minority of Israeli society continue to hit the streets of Tel Aviv in protest of Netenyahu’s further expansion of Gaza’s blockade, bombardment and famine, an unlikely ally has sprouted up amongst the chaos.

The Israeli rugby team, a middle power in European rugby, has led the charge in protesting for an end to the conflict.

While the Israeli rugby community is keen to admit that it is not for humanitarian reasons, they are keenly aware of the All Blacks history of dealing with rogue nations.

During South Africa’s apartheid era, the All Blacks ceased official tours and matches against the Springboks, creating a long break in one of rugby’s fiercest rivalries.

“We really want to play the All Blacks one day, and we know we are getting frighteningly close to them doing to us what they did to the South Africans” said one spokesperson for Israeli rugby union.

Rugby analysts warn that if a boycott were to go ahead, it would likely block Israel out of rugby relevance for the foreseeable future.

Ironically, a post-Apartheid South Africa has said they might even jump on board.
