ICC Announce Next World Test Championship Will Be Played In Darwin During January

As the final of the World Test Championship looks set for a rather bleak end, the International Cricket Council has already turned its focus to the next edition of the tournament.

With the fourth day of the Test match in the Hampshire Bowl, England washed out, the ICC has revealed that the next final will be played in Darwin during the height of the wet season.

The organisation has revealed that Northern Territory capital will be given hosting rights, with the game to be played during the height of the wet season.

This decision follows the raining out of two and half full days of the possible 4 so far, with cricket fans coming to terms with an underwhelming draw being the end result.

The supposed pinnacle of the traditional 5-day game is being played between the two top-ranked teams India and New Zealand, who made the final by consistently bullying teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan at home.

“Next time, we want to make sure that a one-off, weather-dependent fixture is completely rained out,” explained a spokesperson from the ICC.

“So, we are taking it to Darwin, where there’s an average 20ish days of rain during the month of January.”

“Marrara Oval is the ideal location. With a capacity of 12,500 we should be able to comfortably squeeze in the few hundred optimists who are happy to sit in their raincoats and umbrellas for hours.”
