A furious Amy Armstrong (26) has been left seething this afternoon after being issued a $365 fine for what she considers ‘not a real crime’.
Armstrong received the fine after speeding past a police officer who was sneakily hiding up an exit ramp on the Old Betoota Highway.
Speaking with The Advocate, Armstrong explained how she didn’t understand why she was fined because according to road lore, 9km/h over the speed limit didn’t actually count as speeding.
“Seriously, I am just out here rushing home to get my roast in the oven and this dickhead books me for speeding?”
“There are murderers out there, con artists, thieves, actual criminals causing harm to other people yet here they are hiding on the side of the road to catch innocent people like me who are just trying to live their lives”
While speeding may seem like an innocent crime compared to murder, the fact that speeding fines brought in nearly $150 million last year in NSW alone means that law enforcement aren’t going to look the other way anytime soon. Unless, of course, they start fining people for these crimes too – which seems unlikely given the likelihood of an Ivan Milat type earning money to pay a fine while serving a life sentence in a high security prison.
More to come.
