Samantha-Jane Bromley is in a state of shock this evening after being served devon on a $60 charcuterie board at one of Betoota’s trendiest Italian restaurants, Lotti’s.

Samantha-Jane watched on as her affluent city friends flocked to the processed meat like seagulls and scoffed it straight down their gullets.

Speaking with our reporter at the scene, Samantha-Jane said she couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing.

“Is this not just spotty devon? They’re carrying on like it’s Jack’s Creek Wagyu or something”

“These same girls used to bully me at school for my devon and sauce sandwiches, so yeah I am kinda confused.”

Mortadella is a large Italian sausage, originating from Bologna, Italy, made from finely ground, cured pork and pork fat. Whereas devon is Australian and made from pork and another bunch of unnamed meats.

According to Betoota’s top mortadella importer, eastern suburb men and women with too much disposable income seem to be the only ones who don’t realise mortadella is just devon.

“We got a good thing going here”

“You say nothing, capiche?”

More to come.
