In an exclusive sit down with The Betoota Advocate, a Brisbane mum has today confirmed that she never has played favourites, and she never will.
“That certainly won’t be changing this weekend,” laughed Lucia Saint (67) this morning.
The flaring up of the poignant question comes not because of the recent changes to pregnancy status amongst a couple of her children, but because of the endeavours of her home town’s sporting teams.
With the end of September and the start of October hurtling towards the nation, the city of Brisbane is buzzing.
This follows the success of the Brisbane Lions and Broncos, who are both on the verge of greatness.
With the Lions dispatching everyone’s favourite AFL team Collingwood over the weekend, the boys from the River City are on track for back to back premierships.
They’ll play the Geelong Lions in the big dance this Saturday afternoon, some 24 hours before the Bronx take on the Penrith Panthers for a shot in the NRL Grand Final.
“It will be a lovely weekend darling,” said Lucia.
“But I’ve spent a few decades not playing favourites, and that will continue this week.”
“I’m excited for those young Ashcroft boys, and I’m excited for the mighty Bronx.”
“EQUALLY.”
When asked whether Reece drinking toilet water made her a little more excited for the Lions, she laughed.
“Look, Reece is the naughty but charismatic son who has a good heart and means well.”
“So him being silly actually endears me to him.”
“You need some characters in the game you know.”
“Should be a lovely weekend.”
“Will do a roast for the Sunday game and get the kids around I think.”
More to come.
