The President of the United States has today offered some clarity on his demand to pick the next Supreme Leader of Iran.
The president has voiced opposition to appointing the son of the assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba to vacant leadership role.
“They are wasting their time. Khamenei’s son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment,” Trump told Axios.
Even the acknowledgment that the United States might accept Mojtaba, after relentless bombing Iran has of course raised eyebrows, as potentially just appointing the son of the guy who killed 30,000 protestors a little while ago seems quite at odds with the humanitarian and global safety angles touted for the war.
Now, speaking exclusively to The Advocate a White House insider has spoken out on the issue, saying America just needs to make sure a US friendly leader is installed.
"Like ultimately, a guy who doesn't kill his people would be nice, but the main priority is to ensure that we have a leader who will acquiesce to US requests," said the insider.
"Similar to when we installed the Shah after rolling the incredibly popular secular leader Mossadegh in the 50s because he nationalised the oil industry."
"So the Don is thinking that we bring in the Iron Sheik," he said in reference to the famous Iranian-American WWE character.
After quietly being informed that the Iron Sheik has passed, and won't be able to fill that role, the insider then pondered the situation.
"The Great Khali, he's still kicking isn't he?"
When informed that The Great Khali is still kicking, but is actually Indian, the insider paused.
"That's fine, we can work with that. Khali sounds Arabic enough."
"Leave it with me."
More to come.
