Tony Jones Confirms He Has Absolutely Zero Comments On Novak's Run To The Semi-Finals

Channel 9 sports personality Tony Jones has today declined to comment on a notable story out of the Australian Open.

Jones said he 'has no interest whatsoever, on passing judgement about the standard of a certain tennis stars form.'

"Yeah, nice try buddy, better luck next time," laughed Jones to our reporter after being asked about the calibre of Novak Djokovic's charge to the semi-finals.

The question to the notable Channel 9 character comes as Djokovic prepares to play Sinner, after a rather, shall we say, interesting, run to the last four of the AO.

After racing through a couple of unseeded opponents, Djokovic then got to the put the feet up in the round of 16 courtesy of a walkover.

Then, with his tournament coming to an end, 2 sets to love down against the 5th seeded Italian Musetti, Djokovic was somehow blessed by another injury retirement.

"I'm not giving you a comment," said Jones after being pressed again.

Jones failure to comment on the soft run for the player known as Nole to many, comes after he was hammered for a poorly worded joke about Djokovic being overrated and needing to be kicked out of the country at last year's open.

Those comments lead to a sporting furore with Djokovic refusing interviews to Channel 9 and Jones forced into an apology to the Serbian star.

It's believed a desire not to repeat that blow up is behind Tony's reasons for remaining tight lipped.

More to come.
