The Teal Wave has crashed.

It is all over.

The 2025 Federal Election taught us a few things.

Firstly, Australians aren’t that fond of Nuclear energy.

Secondly, we learnt that the voting patterns that emerge during constitutional referendums aren’t necessarily a good indicator for what will happen when Australians are asked to choose which political party will lead their next Federal Government.

And thirdly, we learnt that these alpha female climate-focused Independents can be defeated.

Comprehensively defeated that is.

Whatever these centre-right social justice warriors thought was happening to Australian politics has just been reversed. The inner-cities once again belong to their rightful owner.

The Australian Liberal Party.

The Coalition has clawed back the blue-ribbon electorate of Goldstein in Melbourne’s inner-south-east.

Once held by Liberal MP Tim Wilson by a margin of 12.7% – it was snatched from him in 2022 by the Independent challenger Zoe Daniel who rode the teal wave with a 34.47% swing towards her.

However, the era of climate action, integrity, and gender equity in Australian politics is over. Tim Wilson has won back his seat by 0.08%.

It is now only a matter of time until the Liberal Party wins back the Sydney Teal strongholds of Wentworth, Mackellar, Bradfield, Warringah Kooyong and Curtin. It does not matter that some of these Independent MPs are holding their seats by margins that exceed 10% – in their third terms.

Because Tim Wilson has the template to defeat these highly popular local politicians.

He says the tactic was to “reverse engineer” the teal electoral strategies with a campaign focusing on a bright vision for the future.

On top of that, it helps to have an ageing electorate with very specific cultural fault-lines who have been absolutely terrified by nearly two years of divisive political sensationalism from a Federal Opposition leader who is willing to sacrifice his own political career by working hand-in-hand with far-right shock jocks in spouting alarmist warnings of fictional race wars and manufactured outrage that spirals out of control with an anti-semitic terrorism hoax involving a suspicious caravan that would have never made the news if it weren’t for the concerning poll numbers that showed the Liberal Party were about to experience their worst election result in the history of Australian politics, which they did.

After 4 recounts. Tim Wilson won by 175 votes.

It’s all over for these Teals.
