In some shocking news, it appears that Sydney Sweeney’s primary fan base aren’t that interested in seeing her play a queer boxer in the biopic ‘Christy’, which has been hailed a 'massive flop', despite being shown in over 2000 cinemas.

The movie, starring Sweeney as 1990s boxing trailblazer Christy Martin, amassed just $US1.3 million at the box office.

This comes as Sweeney has continued to dominate headlines this year, with the most recent controversy being the divisive American Eagle ad, featuring the blue eyed blonde actress saying she has ‘great jeans.’

Due to the current political climate in the US, this was interpreted by some as a racist dogwhistle.

Though many were happy to give Sweeney the benefit of the doubt, given she could have interpreted the ad’s dialogue as innocent, her refusal to respond to the backlash has raised some eyebrows.

However it was last week's interview with GQ magazine that really added fuel to the fire, as a dead eyed Sweeney was given multiple opportunities to address the backlash.

Speaking to GQ’s features director Kat Stoeffel, who sycophantically threw multiple softball questions, including if she was ‘surprised by the reaction, Sweeney responded: “I did a jean ad. The reaction definitely was a surprise but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m in jeans and a t-shirt every day of my life.”

Stoeffel went on to say: “The criticism of the content, which is that maybe, specifically in this political climate, white people shouldn’t joke about genetic superiority, and I wanted to give you the opportunity to talk about that specifically.”

Sweeney replied: “When I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear.”

When asked about Donald Trump's reaction to the ad, Sweeney simply responded that it was 'surreal.'

Unfortunately for Sweeney, by refusing to say anything - such as ‘No I’m not racist’ or even a ‘it was not my intention for it to be taken that way’, she has alienated all the lefties that would be interested in seeing a movie about a queer boxer.
