A local woman, haunted by a recurring memory of a vague cartoon she watched as a child who is uncertain if it was a dream or not, has finally realised she’s been thinking of one of those bizarre Canadian kids shows.
"What even was that? Why did they all have French names while speaking English in slightly off American accents?" said a frustrated Jenny Xu (28).
Like many Australian's, Jenny grew up on free-to-air television in the 2000s, where the main source of after school children's entertainment was on ABC kids.
Due to ABC's commonwealth connections to BBC kids and CBC kid (the Canadian version of ABC), Jenny was unknowingly consuming a steady diet of weird Canadian kids shows while watching the seemingly innocent channel of ABC kids.
"I've had weird dreams about that quirky show for years now" admitted Jenny.
Researchers have noted that this phenomenon is widespread among Australians in their late 20s and early 30s, many of whom confuse Canadian programming with fever dreams.
