The National Rugby League is believed to be patting itself on the back this evening, after successfully expanding the code into a new country.

After years of gassing up the concept of taking an NRL game to the United States, its reported League head honchos are quietly thrilled they’ve managed to secure a rectangular field in the Democratic People’s Republic Of West Australia.

The second time Origin has made it to the shores of Perth, this year’s convoy of NRL elites is believed to have traveled with the support of the NSW and QLD Defence Force to ensure safe passage across the Nullarbor.

After disembarking the Jetstar flight to Perth International Airport, Western State Media is reporting both teams and League heads were welcomed into the Western Republic by Chief Chancellor and Supreme Leader Mark McGowan.

Speaking at a joint press conference inside the passenger terminal, Chancellor McGowan and NRL Chairman Peter V’landys said they were excited to bring the NRL to WA in a ceremonial sharing of cultures.

“After years of mentally and legally acting as a sovereign Nation, we’re pleased to welcome these Eastern Australians to Optus Stadium to play their weird brand of tackle rugby,” said McGowan, whilst handing over a can of Emu Export and a vintage Western Reds jersey in a charming welcome gift.

Asked why the NRL had decided to once again take its most prized match into a state that hasn’t seen the shape of a Steeden football since the Super League War, V’landy’s said the NRL was excited to force feed Origin into Western Australia.

“For too long, the Western people have been forced to participate in that kicksy kicksy game, we therefore hope to liberate them by putting on this bloodthirsty display of true contact sport, and bring Rugba Leeg to back Perth!”

“I also have it on good authority that fans all across the Eastern seaboard are really looking forward to waking up at 3am to watch the International coverage of the match.”

More to come.
