A smug Englishmen has been made even more annoying with his undeniably good taste in music.
Friends of Oliver Grant (32) say his pre-existing levels of smugness have been significantly amplified by a catalogue that is very hard to criticise.
"It would be much easier if his music taste was shit," said one mate.
"But it’s not. It’s actually really everytime he gets on the speaker."
Several friends confirmed that even when they try to pre-empt him with a “good song,” Oliver somehow follows it with something slightly better.
Oliver reportedly rotates between 70s post-punk, 2000s Garage music, and just the right amount of mainstream acts to appear grounded, all delivered with an air of complete nonchalance.
"He’ll put something on and say nothing, then five minutes later you’re asking what it is and he just goes ‘oh, you haven't heard this before?’" another friend explained.
Attempts to challenge him musically have so far failed, with Oliver able to produce a deeper cut, a better version, or a more interesting artist within seconds.
"He also has an uncanny ability to read the room, selecting tracks that somehow match the exact mood without ever appearing to try."
"He doesn’t even gatekeep in an aggressive way," said one observer.
"It’s worse. He just assumes you’ll catch up eventually."
Moments after speaking to his friends, Oliver from London had just quietly put on something really good, again.
