The low-functioning but independent-thinking boyfriends and husbands of Australia are being commended this week.

Namely, for their efforts to resist the targeted online recruitment of simple-minded young men by the most powerful technology ever used to shape political discourse.

With hundreds of thousands of Australian men already going down the rabbit hole of neofascist extremism, those that remain uncaptured by such rage-bait deserve praise.

With highly complex algorithms designed to play on their insecurities and take control of their neurological reward systems, it has become far to easy for disenfranchised middle class men to be convinced that they have become both a political and cultural minority - and that their lives and country have been taken from them by sinister forces.

Local tiler, Damon Piper (30, Betoota Heights) is one of those chill boyfriends who has avoided the doom scroll, and is lucky enough to live a life that is isolated from the greivances that are being mainlined into the frontal lobes of many men his age.

"I'm so lucky" says his long-term girlfriend, Elsa (28).

"He's so lucky"

"When he goes to the gym, he just listens to rap music. No podcasts"

"At home, we only watch the nightly news or some sitcoms. We don't have Youtube on our TV"

As Elodie points out, Damon is aware of the dangers of too much screen-time, and is wary of avoiding the descent into far-right of far-left wing grievances that he's seen with seemingly normal friends.

"He doesn't event take his phone to the toilet. Even for a number two. He just goes in there and thinks about stuff"

"Only three more days until footy pre-season begins. I'm so proud of him."

"It's been six weeks since the Ashes and he's done so well to not let the talking heads on his iPhone convince him that Jews and immigrants are responsible for the housing crisis"
