Hawks livewire Jack Ginnivan has done it again, it can be reported.
The cheeky little bugger appears to be up to his old tricks again, letting the intoxicating chaos of footy finals, and his insatiable need to needle opponents, get the better of him once more.
Ginnivan is alleged to have slid into the Geelong Cats chat late last night, sending a familiar, taunting message: “see u in 11 Days.”
One Cats player, a regular contributor to the group chat titled KittyKatKuntz, leaked the message to media this morning, noting the eerie similarity to a Ginnivan’s classic from this time last year.
That one?
A smug reply to Brodie Grundy’s Instagram post celebrating the Swans’ qualifying final win over GWS, in which Ginnivan simply wrote: “see u in 14 days.”
Of course, last year’s version didn’t end so well for young Jack. The Hawks still had to beat Port Adelaide in a hostile Adelaide Oval semi-final—a task they emphatically failed, reportedly after the Power boys used Ginnivan’s premature bravado as motivation to steamroll the disrespectful visitors.
And now, a year older but apparently no wiser, he’s allegedly pulled the same stunt—only this time aimed at the other Adelaide-based side: minor premiers the Adelaide Crows, who the Hawks will face this weekend in a high-stakes clash at (you guessed it) Adelaide Oval.
Asked about the incident just moments ago, Crows coach Matthew Nicks didn’t bother with a media-trained deflection.
“The little prick can’t help himself, can he?” Nicks said with a smirk.
“We’ll use it. We’re even getting Ken Hinkley in tomorrow to give us a rev-up—and teach us how to perfect his aeroplane taunt.”
The Advocate understands that Hawks Captain James Sicily has since confiscated Ginnivan’s phone, with the intention of holding onto it until such time that the Hawks finals campaign is well and truly over.
Which is now looking like this Friday night.
More to come.
