The 2026 Academy Awards are underway, and there is a distinct Australian presence on the red carpet for Hollywood's night of nights.

This year four Aussies have scored major nominations in the categories of Best Actor (Jacob Elordi - Frankenstein), Best Original Song (Nick Cave - Train Dreams) and Best Production Design (Fiona Crombie - Hamnet).

But all eyes will be on the The Pride of Balmain, Rose Byrne - who is nominated for Best Actress for her role in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.

Byrnesie has already won the Golden Globe for Best Actress wth this film, and her home country waits eagerly to see if she'll be able to unify the Best Actress statues tonight.

Moments ago she graced the red carpet in Los Angeles wearing a strapless dress decorated with intricate floral embroidery, paired with minimalist gold jewelry, including a teardrop necklace and tiny stud earrings.

This marks Byrnesie's first Academy Award nomination, and will be her first Oscars appearance since her meteoric Hollywood break-through with Bridesmaids in 2012.

She's come a long way since playing Heath Ledger's love interest in the cult Kings Cross Aussie crime flick 'Two Hands' in 1999, and is now a leading lady in international TV and film blockbusters.

However, this doesn't mean that Byrnesie is immune to the red carpet nerves, which is what explains her unorthodox decision to carry her most comforting Aussie fashion accessory to tonight's award show.

Armed with a fading pink country road duffle bag, Rose Byrne was staying true to her inner-west Sydney roots, as LA's Dolby Theatre was serenaded by the clinking sound of her stash of Guava Cruisers.

Speaking to an entertainment reporter from The Betoota Advocate, Byrnesie said she's usually a Passionfruit UDL kinda gal, but thought she'd go top shelf tonight with the classier 4-pack of vodka alco-pops.

"Just trying to settle the nerves, ya know" said the Oscar nominee.

"So many stars here. It's very surreal. We're not at the Bald Rock in Rozelle anymore I'll tell ya that for free"
