Sydney Roosters fans are arriving at work today with a grin.
As their football heroes continue partying in a discreet Sydney location, the fans are returning to normal life with a spring in their step having just spent the weekend celebrating their first NRL grand final victory since 2019.
In a dramatic clash with Newcastle on Sunday night, the stacked Eastern Suburbs side fought back and held on to win by one point in a breathtaking 19-18 finish.
And with morale at an all time low thanks to the Labor Treasurer's communist changes to the Capital Gains Tax Discount and removal of negative gearing loopholes for property investors, this victory could not have come at a better time for the downtrodden Sydney Roosters fans base - of which 75% list their current occuptation as either real estate agent or property developer.
"We needed this" says local high-end residential seller, Malcolm Teal (54), who specialises in on-selling deceased estates to mainland Chinese investors sight unseen.
"Everyone around here has taken a few knocks of late. But the Roosters have shown the world what the Eastern Suburbs is all about. When we get knocked down, we get straight back up"
And as Malcolm points out, when you work hard... It's not a crime to play hard too.
"Hahaha" chuckles the Roosters tragic, as he directs his assistant to get the sledgehammer out of his car to bang in a For Sale sign on an 18-bedroom Victorian manor in Dover Heights.
"Yeah, you probably heard. Sunday was a big one"
"I mean I don't know how other clubs do it, but the East knows how to celebrate a win."
"I wouldn't have stumbled out of Ravesis until what? 10? I heard the rest of them were raging until at least 10:45pm"
