With Easter upon us, a new trend has sparked up amongst Betoota locals.
Many are turning to alternative ways of celebrating the long weekend that don’t involve spending half your pay on overpriced chocolate bunnies.
The global cocoa shortage has seen prices of chocolate rise up to 50% in the past two years, leaving supermarkets APPARENTLY no choice but to make chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies cost a fuck load.
Local Betoota Mother, Leslie Chambers couldn’t believe her eyes when she went to the supermarket to start prepping for Easter.
“$15 for a 250g Crunchie Easter Bunny, I could buy an air fryer from Kmart for that price.”
Other Betoota locals are turning to alternative methods to celebrate the Easter holiday.
“I went and bought a rabbit off some guy on Gumtree. No lie was 10 bucks, kids love the thing” Andrew, father of two shared with The Advocate.
One savvy mother who was committed to the chocolate theme, decided to buy the 180g block for her children.
“I hide the blocks in the garden. I got three kids so you do the maths. Three blocks hidden around. Less money, less fuss, less mess” Betoota mother Stacy told our reporter.
But some Betoota parents aren’t taking the price increases as well.
“THIS IS EASTER. It’s 4 days off from work which I expect to be drowning myself in those little chocolate eggs which we all know taste WAY better than the normal blocks, like C’MON think of the children!” Betoota father, Ian cried.
The Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ will take place next weekend.
More to come.
