Relaxing Poolside Holiday In Thailand Soundtracked Entirely By AI Covers Of Pop Hits Playlist

A woman attempting to enjoy a nice, relaxing overseas holiday has been subjected to endless hours of AI music blasting from a speaker near the pool.

Having finally saved up enough annual leave, Felicity Tracey (29) decided it was finally time to book the Thailand getaway she’d been banging on about for years.

Two weeks, one hotel. Room service, buffet breakfast, pool bar, the likes.

However, by her second day, Felicity noticed there was one thing standing between herself and finding her chi: the daily soundtrack was not quite what she’d imagined.

“It’s everywhere, they play the same stuff at all the restaurants too,” she said.

“It’s pretty much just all of T Swizzle's discography, who I don’t mind. A bit of Ariana Grande. But it’s actually not even their music. It’s just all random covers, with the same backing track on all of them. I can’t really describe it.”

“Just imagine putting a playlist called  ‘2020s hottest pop tracks fire emoji fire emoji’ into Chat GPT and asking it to make them into covers so it’s copyright free. That’s what it is.”

“And actually, I know I did say it’s the hottest hits from the 2020s, but come to think of it, there was actually one that played last night while I was out to dinner that was an AI pop cover of ‘sound of silence’. Like?”

“I guess beggars really can’t be choosers though. My cocktails are like a couple dollars, so’s lunch. And I get that they’re playing it for tourism purposes and whatnot.”

“But, I am thinking that my next getaway might be a full blown silent retreat somewhere in South Asia or something. I’m going to try really connect with nature there, like find myself fully, let go of society’s expectations and maybe even return with a shaved head.”

Felicity reached for her daiquiri and took a long sip before doggy-paddling over to the inbuilt pool bar to order another.

More to come.
