A lifelong skater forced into retirement from a 4th broken ankle has surprised no one by getting really into push bikes.
Holden Rose (29), an inner city local and lover of things with wheels has for the last 2 years been really into bikes now that he is physically unable to risk another injury on the board.
"Yeah I can't really handle walking anywhere on foot after a decade and a half skating around, a bike is the next best thing really" explained Holden.
"So I spent $6000 putting together a sick bike set up" he said while gazing at his pride and joy.
Friends say John’s personality has shifted dramatically since the injury. He no longer talks about tricks, stair sets or rails. He now speaks exclusively in facebook marketplace bike parts and 12 hour weekend rides.
“He used to ask if you wanted to skate a spot” said longtime friend Anthony.
“Now he keeps pressuring me to buy a second hand bike he saw on marketplace”
Holden is following a long line of skaters who's years of injuries have caught up to him while still wanting to be able to get around town on wheels.
“I definitely do miss skating” Holden admitted, adjusting shoulder that has been dislocated over 12 times.
“I just reckon my missus and boss would be off it if I told them I tore my ACL or something haha”
