Record Hot Day Means This City Worker Should’ve Packed A Jumper For Work

As temperatures nudge 50 degrees here on the fringe of the Simpson Desert, one city worker is kicking herself because she didn’t remember to pack a jumper for work.

While the commute to work on the underground would’ve been hellish, a jumper would’ve been nice once Billie Joneswell gets to work.

The 26-year-old works in the workplace and employment team at a medium-sized domestic law firm. She also sits directly under the airconditioning.

When she’s not being touched during conversation with partners and starred at in general, Joneswell tries to keep herself warm by any means.

But, she says, wearing a jumper in the workplace is a bit of a Catch-22.

“You draw attention to yourself, male attention that is, when you wear a jumper but you get to be comfortable,” she said.

“But not wearing one makes me feel sick and freezing. It’s hard,”

“Sometimes I wish I was born in the twenties. I could just get married and put my feet up. Working’s a mug’s game. Smoking in pubs, too. Having a cigarette over a meal is the height of luxury. Second only to having one in the pool. Nothing better,”

“What were we talking about? Oh yeah, the aircon. What can I say? I lost the birth lottery.”
