Queen St Mall Hungry Jacks Added To Brisbane’s Cultural Heritage Register

Queen St Mall Hungry Jacks has finally been officially recognised as one of Brisbane’s most treasured buildings.

The iconic landmark was reportedly added to the register after it became apparent just how popular the location was for people ‘waiting for a mate.’

Locals are said to be praising the decision and have unanimously agreed that the council has done something right for once.

“I honestly can’t think of a more famous building in Brisbane,” says a local.

“It’s like Australia’s version of the Eiffel Tower.”

“I reckon they should add it to those walking tours.”

Brisbane City Council member Jim Parkinson, says he’d heavily pushed for the venue to be registered for years.

“Hungry Jacks is without a doubt, the most popular meeting point in the CBD,” he said.

“We estimate that nine out of ten locals have convened out the front of it at some point.”

The Advocate reached out to a Hungry Jacks employee to see what they thought of the whole fuss.

“Yeah it’s a bit weird because Hungry Jacks isn’t usually people’s first choice,” admits the  manager, Alison, “but we’ve managed to outperform every fast food outlet in the area.”

“I don’t think anyone actually plans to eat here”

“They just end up ordering out of boredom.”

Unfortunately, now that Hungry Jacks has been heritage listed it now has an increased chance of mysteriously burning down.
