After weeks of cowering and avoiding accountability, Prime Minister Albanese is finally walking the coals.

This marks a real win for the Liberal Party, who have been struggling to land a punch on the Government ever since the 2023 Indigenous Voice referendum - which was sadly followed by a bloodbath 94-seat Labor victory at last year's Federal election.

However, through sheer grit and determination, the Federal Opposition have this week forced a diplomatic incident upon the Albanese Government.

This comes after the Australian media refuses to take a backwards step as they examine the potential fallout over Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s “melongate” saga.

The Prime Minister has faced weeks of controversy after he appeared to make sexual innuendo about Crown Melons given to him by Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

During a podcast from nearly a month ago, the Prime Minister dished out a string of delicious gaffes after making the seemingly high-risk low-reward decision to appear on a comedy podcast that nobody had ever heard - for no reason.

It was during this podcast that Albanese said the Japanese Prime Minister gave him two melons hahaha. It's not known if this was a joke, or a mindless comment about nothing, but either way - it is now the biggest story in Australian media.

Meanwhile, the Labor Government has been able to avoid any real media interrogation of his comically weak gambling reform laws, the changes to the NDIS, and of course the multibillion dollar bail corporate bail out of the Rio Tinto smelter.

It's unknown if the media were in on this decoy, or if they willingly took the bait, either way - sportsbetting ads are going to continue blasting out of our TV screens and phones indefinitely.

After passing today's hardly scrutinised laws through the lower house, Albanese has finally addressed 'Melon-gate' - using the medium of trending social media memes.
