Piastri Drives Really Fast But Not Quite Fast Enough Unfortunately

Sports and TV fans around the country today experienced some mixed feelings upon waking up.

With the final race of the Formula MarioKart taking place in Abu Dhabi overnight, the nation has awoken to the news that it wasn't to be for Oscar Piastri.

After the young starlet led the Driver's Championship for much of the season, a late surge from teammate and golden child Lando Norris saw Piastri fall tantalisingly short.

Finishing 2nd at the Grand Prix, he and Max Verstappen finished behind Lando - in what motor sport enthusiasts say was a very exciting end to the season.

The final race of the season was a somewhat apt summation of Piastri's year, where the young gun drove really really fast, but not quite fast enough.

However, with McLaren still paying lip service to the 'may the best driver win' mantra - there's plenty of hope that Piastri might be able to drive fast enough to win the whole thing next year.

"Yeah, it's really exciting times," said local motoring enthusiast Shannon Carr.

"He's on the best team, and he's still young."

"Can't wait to watch him drive again next year."
