NRL boss Peter 'The Great' Vlandys is this week basking in all his glory, as the code prepares to conquer America.

With Vegas Round just around the corner and the trusty army of junket journo's singing the game's praises - the Rugby League Supremo is already preparing for his next conquest.

After banking the United States of America and all its gambling revenue for another year courtesy of the blockbuster match up's between, the Bulldogs, Cowboys, Dragons and Kinghts - Peter The Great has his sights set on the Middle East.

Long referencing the dream of a global NRL round to kick off the season, Peter has now confirmed that the next expansion of his empire will be through Saudi Arabia.

The revelation of the next front in the campaign to become the global game comes with the promises of 1.5 million dollars in local funding to be had in the way of loot for his army of tattooed up Steeden warriors.

However, concerns have been raised that the journey into the Middle East might just be Peter The Great's very own Hyphasis River.

"This might just be a pivotal moment in history we look back on for centuries," said Kris Ray, a member of the incredibly common Venn diagram overlap of Rugby League fans and historians.

"Without getting into all Maco/Greek Alexander stuff, this feels signifiant."

"I'm sure he might win the battle for a Middle East game, like Alexander did with the Battle of Hydaspses."

"But it's what might come as a result of that costly incursion, that could bring about a mutiny in the ranks."

"Can you imagine a horde of rugby league players and fans in Saudi Arabia?"

"It may very well lead to his own Hyphasis River situation, that brings about the end of his expansion and sees his forces shrink back in on itself."

"Or maybe not..."

"But you know what they say about not learning from history..."

More to come.
