A compulsive people pleaser has once again been forced to depart from her bus stop early after accidentally hitting the bell and not wanting the bus driver to feel like she wasted his time.
Sophie Martin (27) had been on her way home from work when she mistakenly brushed the bell button with her elbow, immediately sending her into a silent panic spiral.
“I thought about just staying on and pretending it wasn’t me” Sophie explained.
“But there was only 4 of us on the bus and I really didn’t want people to feel like I was wasting their time”
Witnesses say Sophie stood up a full thirty seconds before the bus reached the stop, awkwardly hovering by the door as she tried to make the decision look deliberate.
“I even did that fake pocket pat, like I was checking for my phone before I got off to make it seem like I had a reason to get off there” she admitted.
After stepping off the bus, Sophie reportedly walked confidently towards her actual bus stop hundred metres before turning a corner to wait for the next bus, hoping no one noticed.
“It’s not the first time it’s happened” Sophie confessed.
“I’ve done entire detours across the city just to avoid making things awkward for bus drivers”
Transport officials have confirmed that pressing the bell does not legally oblige passengers to exit the bus.
