The new era of the Eel is here.
This comes as NRL superstar Jarome Luai announces he will spend 12 months with them before he inevitably leaves Australia to join the newly announced PNG Chief.
Luai had been contracted with the Tigers until 2027, but he and the club have decided to part ways after an exciting month or two at the top of the NRL ladder.
Parramatta confirmed yesterday evening that Luai will play 24 matches for them, possibly less if he gets injured, but possibly more if they make the finals!
Which is a real possibility, as the club and their fans begin to excitedly eye 9th place on the 2027 ladder.
"This is a new era" said club coach, Jason Ryles, who is relatively new to the role by NRL standards - but also a veteran by Parramatta standards.
"This signing tells the world that we aren't just here to take part, we're here to take over. For the next season anyway"
One local fan, Harris Dundas, says he's gone and bought himself a copy of today's Daily Telegraph with Jarome Luai on the front page in Parramatta colours.
"This is the before and after moment for the Eels" he said.
"With the ever-changing new rules that keep getting introduced each season, and a signing like this... We can stop acting like strictly a bottom eight team"
"We don't need much to go our way for that 9th place to become and 8th place after 26 rounds - including two byes"
