A 3rd generation resident of a suburb deep into the transitional phase of gentrification has had his day made after walking past the local PCYC boxing class and hearing 2pac blasting out of it.

The small spark of hope in the man’s day occurred earlier today after Jaden Young (34) returned from his weekly pilgrimage to the nearest shopping centre that isn’t an over priced organic “market”, two suburbs over.

“For a moment, it was like I was stepping foot into my childhood” Jayden said.

Moments after returning from his shop, Jayden couldn’t help but here the faint sounds of “Only God Can Judge Me” by 2pac, he instinctively made his way closer to the source, hoping to confirm what he was hearing.

The unmistakable beat echoed from the PCYC’s open roller door, briefly cutting through the post-gentrified noise of cavoodles barking and loud coffee machines.

For a brief moment, Jayden felt like he had returned home— like the suburb hadn’t been completely steamrolled by young couples with rich parents.
