Old Bloke Who Reckons Whitlam Dismissal Was The Biggest Moment In Australian Political History Forgetting The Time Tony Abbott Was Convinced An ABC Sound Guy Was His Son

A local grandfather of 5 has today been served a rather juicy dose of reality.

Grahame Kennett, a 71-year-old retired sparky from our town's pebblecrete paradise of Betoota Heights, was delivered that dose via his son this morning.

It was served after Grahame decided to proclaim that the Whitlam Dismissal was the most significant political moment in Australian political history, while on the phone to his young fella.

However, while acknowledging the impact of a Governor-General removing a sitting Prime Minister, Grahame's son pointed out that it still pales in comparison to the period of time when the nation thought Tony Abbott had a love-child.

For those not familiar with the early months of the 2005 political news cycle for some reason, family values man Tony Abbott was scandalously revealed to be the father of a young ABC sound recordist.

The young man had come forward after learning that Abbott was his father, courtesy of a high-school fling back in the day.

In a weird turn of events, the big 'no sex before marriage guy' fronted up and accepted his supposed secret son in front of the nation's eyes.

However, after a raft of headlines, thanks to a DNA test a short time later, it was proven that the ABC sound guy was not actually Tony's son all the way along, and everyone had gotten their wires crossed.

Tony then went back to being a big conservative values guy and the rest is history.

"Yeah, no arguing with that dad," laughed Graham's son.

"The whole nation just thought he had a secret love child, and he fully accepted it and was moving forward."

"Which is actually to his credit if you ask me."

"But yeah, a bit of carry on over budget's not getting the tick of approval and the CIA helping to remove a sitting leader of another country is pretty boring when you compare it to big Tone."

Graham nodded in agreement before moving on to the topic of the recent Shield performances.

More to come.
