The state of NSW (Newcastle Sydney Wollongong) is today coming to terms with a harsh and confronting reality.

After waking up with a sore head and a few seconds of free head space before remembering they choked again – cockroaches south of the border are once again facing the fact that they have to wait another 12 months for another shot at winning origin.

Despite assuming the series was over after Game 1, Games 2 and 3 have been played and have not fallen in their favour.

While a stirring second half comeback had many believing that Game 3 was a formality in Sydney, Queensland completely dominated the Blues to come away with a famous series victory.

That victory has now left footy fans in places like Sydney wondering if their team really just doesn’t get Origin.

One local Blues fan confirmed to The Advocate that despite his protestations for the best part of the last decade, he is now making peace with the fact that maybe the Blues just don’t get the concept of Origin footy.

“Failing to push on the inside against an offloading Robert Toia, refusing to go right after skinning Queensland’s left edge twice in the first 5 minutes, letting Harry Grant wriggle through four defenders, failing to kick to the best aerial winger in the game, leaving middle forwards on the bench, refusing to read the slow down tactics in the ruck,” he sighed.

“All of these things just make you realise that maybe getting so excited for these games is futile.”

“Even Joey sounded resigned.”

“Lucky we’ve got another ten and a half months to ponder it.”
