NSW Government Furious Iran Beat Them To Installing Tolls On The Strait Of Hormuz

The NSW government has today joined the Coalition of Conflict in condemning the nation of Iran.

The people in charge of the state of NSW have hammered the Iranian regime for the new toll they have proposed for the Strait of Hormuz.

That new toll would see the nation of Iran collect tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, and has been put forward as a precondition for reopening the waterway vital to world oil supplies.

That move has left the NSW government furious.

Not because they think the new restriction would undermine international maritime freedom, but because the Iranians got their first.

"Fucking filthy," sighed a spokesperson for the NSW government.

"I can't believe no one in our department thought of whacking a tollway in the Strait until now," continued the man from the toll capital of the world.

"Such a missed opportunity."

The comments from the NSW government have raised eyebrows, with the state seemingly having no jurisdiction over the maritime passageway some 10,500 kilometres away.

It's also raised concerns from international experts, who say collecting tolls in the strait would violate a basic and enduring principle of international maritime trade: freedom of peaceful navigation.

Those legal experts have yet to confirm if that principle is part of international law that the likes of US have to expect, or if it's the part of international law they can just ignore.

More to come.
