Maverick North-West NSW politicians Barnaby Joyce has officially distanced himself from National Party, but insists he is still a member of the historic rural Australian political organisation – for now.

Or will he accept Pauline Hanson’s invitation to join One Nation? His voters don’t care.

“I’m not going to attend any party room that believes in net zero” said Joyce, as he insists on continuing to fight an anti-science culture war that literally every other party ditched after the Black Summer bushfires.

This marks a somewhat solemn break-up between Barnaby Joyce and his once beloved National Party.

After coming up through the ranks in the early 2000s, Joyce served as a Senator for Queensland, before moving back to his hometown in the NSW New England and running as a lower house MP.

For many years, Barnaby Joyce was the face of the National Party – including several stints at Deputy Prime Minister under both Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison.

He was also the face of the National Party throughout his many controversies and drunken antics.. Namely his Parliament House lovechild that was conceived to a media staffer, while still married to his first wife.

He was also sacked by the high court when it became clear he was a New Zealand citizen. However, each time it appeared that his career was finished for good, he rose from the ashes like a Woolbrook phoenix.

And it’s not lost on anyone that Barnaby Joyce’s durability and resilience as an embattled politician and father all comes down to the fact that the people of the New England, who will always vote him back in regardless of the media circus that surrounds him.

Now, even with Joyce looking like he’s cutting ties with the National Party, there is no doubt that they will vote for him again.

In fact, the people of North-West NSW have specifically clarified that they will.

“What’s going on with Barnaby?” said one voter, Billy (retired, Glen Innes)

“I haven’t heard. Can’t be too bad if I haven’t heard. Saw him the other day at the Tamworth show. Good bloke”

Another voter, Deb from Armidale echoes these sentiments.

“I don’t give a fuck. I will vote for him again regardless of what you tell me” she says,
