As the slow death of free spaces ensues, Melbourne’s young and beautiful seek out ‘third spaces’ to leisurely socialise in a cost effective way.

Historically the primary demographic of libraries has mostly consisted of the elderly, nerdy or disadvantaged. Now, that demographic is changing as Melbourne’s most beautiful arts students flood the space.

These book bound baddies have been steadily increasing in numbers since the library opened its doors in 2017. Equipped with a rooftop garden, it is the perfect place to procrastinate in style.

Speaking to one regular looking library goer, The Advocate heard that the library wasn’t without its faults.

“Everyone is so beautiful, it’s really quite intimidating. They are also immaculately dressed and it looks like whatever they’re working on is so much more important than what I’m doing.”

“I get pretty stressed out when I’m there. I am only comforted by the old bloke in the corner who is relentlessly playing online roulette, he looks like he’s having fun. ”

Arts baddies sit silently and look vaguely around the room as they try to beef up the word count for their essays about the most esoteric topics imaginable that not even a single book in the entire library would cover.

Sources say that the library is at risk of becoming an extension of Edinburgh gardens which is also an extension of Fitzroy Pools, where the city's good looking people are lazing about at alarming rates.

More to come.
