27 year old Sam Callahan has exhausted his social battery before even leaving the car today.
The Noosa local says he did 10 laps of Hastings Street and a further 20 of the carparks at each end in search of a park.
On several occasions, Sam spotted towel-wrapped holidayers standing beside their car before quickly winding down the window to call out “you guys leaving?”.
Each time, he was met with a solemn shake of the head along with “sorry mate, just got here” in response.
“I even tried all my secret spots behind Little Cove and up Noosa Parade,” he said.
“Looks like all the tourists have got to those ones, too,”
A born and bred Noosa resident, Sam says his beloved coastal town just isn't what it once was.
“I just don't understand why all these holidayers have rental cars. Like I bet half of them are staying a 15 minute walk away,”
Sam sighed when asked if he had considered parking his car in the nearby Noosa junction and walking over the hill.
“How am I meant to do that when I’ve got my esky and cool cabana with me?”
For now, Sam says he’ll be waiting until the school holidays are over to venture into town again.
“Just can’t afford to be wasting fuel on trying to find a park,” he said.
More to come.
