The hopes for a big night out this weekend have been quashed for four young women after discovering Noosa’s only thriving nightclub functions out of a shopping centre.
Last night, a round of four espresso martinis along Hastings Street had delivered what seemed like a promising start to the evening.
“We are going to run this town tonighttttt girls!” squealed Megan McPhillips (29) to friends Sophie Glunn, Rachel Murphy and Maddy Gleeson.
The women had planned to end up at the Rolling Rock, the once iconic nightclub Sophie frequented during her schoolies week in 2014.
The plot began to fall through, however, when the girls found themselves chatting to a group of local boys at the bar.
“Nah, no one really goes to the Rock anymore,” said Will, a 26 year old local carpenter.
Disappointed, Sophie threw a few other familiar favourites out there - Soda, Little Sister, even KB’s.
“Nah, they’re all shut down besides KB’s. Everyone goes to 4 Pines,” said Will’s mate Tom.
And so, together, the group began their climb over the hill into Noosa Junction, a precinct which spent many years a ghost town before recently reviving into the town’s cultural epicentre, according to the boys.
The allure quickly wore off, however, when the women came to find their Saturday night destination shared its walls with an IGA and K-Hub.
“The fuck?” muttered each girl as they tapped their cards for the $30 entry.
“Remind us to go to Byron instead next year,” Megan said.
More to come.
