In a lovely news story for the much maligned code of Rugby Union, the game they supposedly play in heaven has been asked to come and play with the big boys and girls.
The serious boost for the slightly different shaped egg-ball code comes through its inclusion in the newly announced Rexona Rivals tv-show.
Starring superstars from Aussie Rules, League and Union (awwww cuteeeeeee), the new Kayo show is set to finally decide which code is actually king of the castle.
Featuring the likes of Reece Walsh, Jaime Chapman, Will Ashcroft, Mon Conti, JAS and Desiree Miller - the show is already winning praise for coming up with the iconic concept of what is essentially Australia's new Footy-Olympics.
However, while Rugby Union was a no brainer back in the day when the boys frosting their tips and winning or challenging for World Cups, the inclusion this time around wouldn’t exactly have been taken for granted.
The much needed win follows revelations yesterday that the Wallabies will have to play titans of the game Hong Kong in the World Cup opener next year - in what is looming as a do or die clash which they are predicted to go into as heavy underdogs.
“Yeah, I think it’s a really nice touch actually,” said one loudmouth Rugby League fan Eddie Birmingham, who’s sleeping on the fact that Rugby Union Rep Harry Wilson actually scored the fastest century in Brisbane School cricket and is reportedly quite the multi-dimensional athlete.
“Even though they’ve got a leaguie leading the charge for em anyway.”
“But nah, will be good to see how it pans out. I know the southerners love all their cardio bullshit, but surely when it comes to the physical stuff Reece, JAC, Chapo and Ali get it done.”
More to come.
