In some reassuring news, futurists have assured that fears of AI taking over the workforce are completely overblown as it’s only white collar workers that should be worried.

With any job involving data, customer service or creativity being on the chopping block, the nation can rest assured that jobs such as cleaning, construction, and manual labour or operating a laundry mat will be safe, for now.

As Australian politicians are set to discuss whether AI should be regulated or exempt from copyright laws, one local tech billionaire insists regulating AI will do more harm than good, and hinder the consumer and productivity benefits it could bring to the workforce.

Speaking to Alan Altermann, CEO of  tech startup ‘BlossomX’, The Advocate learns that AI will mostly be used for streamlining menial tasks or taking over jobs that are fun and creative.

“Look, AI will take over some jobs, but it’s also going to help people do work faster”, explains Altermann, “especially when it comes to date driven jobs or anything involving human creativity, which can be easily scraped using generative tools trained on existing people’s writing and art.”

“Take the original Lord of the Rings, for example. Imagine how much time and money they could have saved if they didn’t have to waste time hiring very passionate people to create costumes, figures and set designs.

“If they’d had AI, they could have streamlined the whole process.”

When asked what jobs would be safe, Altermann says anybody doing back breaking manual labour or tasks that nobody really wants to do, should be safe ‘for a while.’

More to come.
