In a story that is set to shock the sporting world to its core, one of the most successful sporting franchises of the modern era has just dropped a bombshell.
The Melbourne Storm, famous for making the Grand Final like every second year, has today revealed that it will be going dual-code.
The stunning revelation comes after the Melbourne Storm dropped a new singlet style jersey in conjunction with new platinum sleeve sponsor Budget Direct – believed to be the first time in Australian sporting history where there is a sleeve sponsor without a sleeve.
That new kit, complete with armbands is believed to be the hybrid strip the club will wear to play in both the NRL and the AFL.
The sensational news is believed to be the first of its kind anywhere in the sporting world.
“Yeah, I truly can’t believe what I’m seeing,” said Victorian Leg Tennis supremo Brian ‘Bristle’ Taylor.
“It’s genuinely mind blowing,” said Rugby league supremo Phil ‘Gus’ Gould.
“We’ve obviously seen a few players swap between codes,” continued Gould.
“I mean Karmichael and Izzy went all the way and went triple code.”
“But to actually play in two different codes at the same time is crazzzzyyyyyy.”
Speaking to The Advocate under the condition of anonymity, a spokesperson for the Melbourne Storm explained the thought process behind the huge move.
“We are actually doing it for our city,” he said.
“After Melbourne had to sit through to non-Melbourne teams in the Leg Tennis Grand Final, we decided to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
“And it will be good cardio and fitness for the boys.”
“Besides, have you seen Xavier Coates in the air?”
“He’ll kick 8 snags a game, no dramas at all.”
“It’s a no brainer really.”
“We’ve just gotta make sure both of the leagues don’t muck us around with the scheduling.”
More to come.
